During APS (American Physical Society) March Meeting, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Peking University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Tsinghua University, those five universities with national level first-rate key disciplines on physics jointly organized the 2017 overseas brain-gain talk, the fifth one held by these five school. The meeting was held in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, on the evening of March 15th, local time. Nearly a thousand overseas physicists from all over the world attended the event.

Prof. DU Jiangfeng, Executive Dean of School of Physics, University of Science and Technology of China, introduced the basic situation of the School of Physics at USTC, the overseas talents recruitment policy and the demand for talent introduction this year, focusing on the Recruitment Program for Young Professionals. He said that USTC has always been concerned about the introduction and training of young talents, the past several batches of ‘Recruitment Program for Young Professionals’ electees have received strong scientific research support during their work in USTC, the career transition has on smoothly. USTC is currently fully involved in the construction of Comprehensive National Science Center in Hefei, the school ushers in brand new developing opportunities, the aspiring first-class young and innovative talents are very welcomed to join and apply for the 2017 Recruitment Program for Young Professionals. After the talk, many participants conducted face to face communication with Academician DU Jiangfeng, and expressed the wish to join USTC.

In accordance with the five school agreement, since 2013, the introduction of overseas talent will be held every year during the APS March Meeting organized by the five schools in turn. The common goal of the conference is to introduce outstanding international talents from the field of physics to further promote the development of domestic physics. The recruitment talk has been held successfully for five times so far.
