On May 21st, the Guo Moruo Scholarship awarding ceremony was held in Student Activity Center at Eastern Campus. Those in spotlights were 34 USTC students. Their parents and high school principals were also invited.

Professor WAN LiJun, president of USTC and renowned CAS academian, opened the ceremony with a brief speech. He congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to pursue further excellences. Alumnus Representative ZHOU Peng and Liu ZhiFeng, secretary general of USTC Initiative Foundation also shared their experiences with USTC and their expectations for the young students.
Prof. WAN then personally handed out the scholarship to each of the recipients. The principles were also gifted with specially crafted bulletins in recognition of their efforts in the awardees' earlier education.
Guo MoRuo Scholarship, often nicknamed the Guo prize, is the most eminent award for USTCers. It was set up by CAS in 1980, using remunerations donated by Guo MoRuo, author, historian and founding president of USTC. In the long course of 35 years, this scholarship has been awarded to 751 undergraduates and 95 graduate students, most of whom are achieving great success in their respective careers.
