As the executive chairman of University of Twente (UT) board, Victor van der Chijs visited USTC on the morning of April 14. President WAN Lijun and Vice President CHEN Chusheng met with the guests.

President WAN Lijun welcomed the delegations of UT into USTC. He reviewed the good relations between two schools and expected two sides to continually strengthen connection, carry out more exchanges and cooperation. Then, vice president CHEN Chusheng introduced the development history of USTC, tenet, personnel training, scientific research achievements and the basic situation of international exchanges and cooperation to the delegation. He also presented the high quality of the science and technology talent training characteristics of "One thousand students an academician".
Victor briefly introduced the major setting, research cooperation and enterprise-oriented teaching achievements of UT, especially the successful case of the establishment of Technical and Medical Academy. He also affirmed and praised the USTC students’ outstanding performances taking part in the research projects in UT. He said that there were many common points on major setting and education scale between the two universities and hoped the friendships lasting and cooperation and communication deepening. Vice President CHEN showed Victor’s team about USTC History Museum and Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale on the morning of April 15.

Dr. Marinus Jan Bentum, the representative of UT, met with the school of information science and technology (IST) and discussed students’ joint training projects, visiting professors, doctoral students exchange, etc. Professors of IST school, principals of Office of International Cooperation and Dean's Office attended the discussion.
University of Twente is one of the 13 Dutch national key research universities, affiliated with the Dutch ministry of education. This university is the only modern and comprehensive university possessing American campus characteristics in Netherlands. It has six international standard football fields, beautiful environment, complete facilities and it’s full of modern architecture fitting well with the ancient, everywhere reflecting the culture of the school. That the school has constantly been the pursuit of transcendence in teaching and high quality of teachers and rigorous teaching style, make it enjoy a high reputation in the world. Although, it is one of the youngest members of the Dutch 13 national research universities, it is recognized as one of the top universities in Holland.
